Church of Saint Margaret
Located in the heart of Refrontolo, the church houses real historical treasures, including valuable frescoes and altars, but above all its parish archives.
Documents dating back to 1600 are preserved here, including the “Book of Land Leases” and the register of baptisms, marriages and deaths, which began in 1624.
The archive, kept by the parish priest in the rectory, has remained intact despite historical vicissitudes. The church preserves an altarpiece from the school of Paris Bordone.
The first mention of a church in Refrontolo dates back to the 11th century, and it is known that it was a branch of the parish church of San Pietro di Feletto. Around 1475, the building was rebuilt and in the 16th century it became a parish church on its own.
In 1613, the bell tower was erected and the current parish church was built between 1927 and 1933 to a design by Giovanni Possamai and consecrated on 11th April 1933 by the Bishop of Ceneda, Eugenio Beccegato.
