In the green hills of Refrontolo, the Percorso degli Alpini (Alpine Path) is a circular route designed to make the beauty of the landscape accessible even to those with reduced mobility. The route starts from the central town square, which is easily accessible and equipped with parking facilities, and winds for about 3.2 km along paved sections and compact country paths.
This path crosses gentle, shaded areas, among neat vineyards and panoramic views typical of the Prosecco Hills, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has been carefully designed to ensure accessibility for certain categories of people with limited mobility and is also ideal for families with children or elderly people.
Along the route, you will come across the Monumento agli Alpini (Alpine Troops Monument), which gives the itinerary its name: a simple but meaningful place that invites reflection and remembrance.
The trail then passes through wooded areas and clearings where you can observe the local flora, rest on wooden benches and listen to the silence of the hilly landscape.
Along the way, it is easy to be captivated by the rural charm of the area: narrow streets, dry stone walls and glimpses of old country houses reveal the authentic soul of the territory. In spring, the path comes alive with wild flowers; in autumn, the colours of the vines paint the landscape red and gold.
Upon arrival, you can comfortably return to the starting point in the square, where you can conclude the experience with a coffee break or a visit to local businesses.
This route is an invitation to walk slowly, listen and remember. It is a concrete example of how hiking can truly be for everyone.
